| | I have had a lot of fun shooting this lens around the backyard, the image quality is excellent and it didn't break the bank purchasing it (I think I paid about $60-$70 AUD). It probably wouldn't appeal to the more serious Macro shooters (or maybe it would) as you have to get quite close to your subject at 55mm and the aperture only goes to F16. But if you're just after something to get some nice shots and practice your skills I would highly recommend this lens. The build quality is excellent, it feels like a really solid unit, colours and sharpness are great.

| | this lens stands out because it is a lesser god , but equal if not better than the famous brands.
The only thing is sort of lacks is AF, but you don't really use that in Macro-photography anyway. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/561247_506405296089405_1472912894_n.jpg | |

| | got this gem in practically brand new condition, the first thing i can say is that images are sharp, sharper than most of pentax 50mm lenses at f2.8 even wide open. it does as well as modern digitally optimized lenses even though it is a film lens.
the lens recess allows it to go without a filter, which would probably degrade the quality anyway, had never need to clean it as no dust whatsoever goes onto it (almost makes it seem like it has dust repelling coating)
while image quality is totally outstanding, the only bad thing is that its only f16, which i think may not appeal to all macro lovers. personally i shoot arnd f10 (this lens optimizes at f8, but degradation isn't obvious, save for a change in contrast which you can amend later), and tt barrel turns way too much, prefer it to be less. but otherwise, an outstanding lens i regret selling.

| The 'little brother lens' to the Elicar, Panagor 90mm and also the 135mm Vivitar and 'close focus' version, all made by Komine and branded under various names. The Vivitar-Komine lenses can be identified by a 28 leading the serial numbers. (Vivitar has used numerous lens mfgs) See this link for more info on this family of lenses from the 1980s that are well rated: https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/Panagor-90mm-F2.8-Macro-PMC-for-Pentax.html | |
