Description:
This large, imposing lens was made in the old german democratic republic - DDR. It is a classic preset aperture lens, and also has the detachable mount, in common with the 300mm f4. Normally found with M42, exacta is the other mount available. Made for the medium format pentacon 6 system.

The M42 mount is probably the most common. It is a conical piece with a narrow base at the camera mount end. A flanged M42 to PK adapter works best but then infinity focus is compromised. If you are using a non-flanged adapter this thread on stopping light leaks with narrow profile M42 lenses that don't cover the camera mount may be useful. A full solution is to take the mount to an engineering shop and have them turn down the mount by the thickness of a flanged adapter, thus retaining infinity focus.

Later versions are designated MC - multicoated.

Got this lens a year ago, thinking it could be used for wildlife; the first thing to notice is the build quality lenses like this aren't made anymore. The lens is around 8 pounds and shooting handheld is near impossible, I recommend a good tripod if you plan to use it. The lens comes in three different mounts EXA, P6, and M42. Feel free to buy any since you can swap the mount later. Is a bazuka over all and it makes all the other lenses look small, I had the luck of building a small collection of East German m42 lenses and this one is a keeper.
