Photax/Photax-paragon is a third party/reseller brand. In the UK it was associated with photographic store chain Dixons. This lens and very similar lenses (f2.8's) can be found under numerous nameplates: Revuenon, Palar, Pentor etc. (pic 4). A similar 35mm f2.8 with a different focus barrel is listed

Manufacturer unknown but it looks similar to the vivitar in pic 5, which is identifiable as a Tokina due to the 37xxx serial, albeit that is an f2.8.
Enrico Savazzi refers to an almost identical model as Photax type II, the type I being a classic preset -t-mount lens (similar to the vivitar described in
this Ponder and Best brochure ) with two aperture rings. However his type II has no
A-M switch whereas the example pictured does. The f2.8 examples don't seem to have an A-M switch either.
On mflenses.com, the similarity of design of this 35mm to known Mitake made lenses was noted in
this thread.
