| | Be careful which version of this lens you get. I have two and they are very different.
The easiest way to find out, is one has a push button on the side to close the aperture, and the other has the newer M/A slider on the side to control it.
The former is a beauty wide open with great contrast sharpness. But the downside is you have to keep the button pressed when taking the photo, otherwise the aperture will be wide open.
The latter you can set the aperture when switched to M, and it will stop down meter. Downside, is that is very dreamy wide open. You need to get it to F5.6 and beyond to get the contrast you would expect.
Having said that, these are very very cheap lenses, so if you find both, get both. One for wide open, yet fiddly, the other more controlled and dreamy wide open, but easier to use stopped down.
The choice is yours.

| | The lens is converted so it can be used on pentax (it had prakticar mount).
At 1.8 it's not as sharp as some other old 50-ties (Helios 77M-4 is much much sharper), contrast is reduced a bit. At higher aperture values it sharpens however due to 6 aperture blades, bokeh is no circular anymore.
I noticed that when this lens is mounted on my pentax, the whole scenery through viewfinder look wamer/more yellow/green. It also appears on final image,it produces noticeably warmer colors.
The bokeh is on the par with other 50-ties.
The minimum focusing distance is 33cm which is less than most 50-ties can offer.
The focusing ring is smooth, so precise focusing can be made however focusing path is long, so going from 33cm to infinity takes some time.
Overall it is good lens for money though I had sharper 50mm M42 but still, for few bucks it's okay.
