What a great lens. Previously owned the 2.8 FA 28-70, the sigma DG macro (not HSM), and then DFA 24-70. Among the three, the sigma DG was the best, but sold it because had enough of zooming towards for the 24mm (yep, it's a pretty akward design). Decided to give the HSM a shot 2 weeks ago. It's now my favourite of the 4. Only drawback i can think of is that the K1II misreads it for a sigma 70-200mm 2.8 and had to focus adjust -8. Aside this, it is doing it's job so well, i strongly recommend it over the other equivalent lenses on a FF pentax camera.

amazed by this lens, this sigma has a real personality . something like the limited 31mm, therefore hard to choose one to shoot as they are very close in angle but different in personality. i love the microcontrats especially in black&white photos. great details in shadows helped by the k-1 sensor. a great lens

excellent walk-around zoom lens for full frame! highly recommended if you can deal with the fact that on the k-1 & k-3 Exif reads up to 80mm only, and that lens has zoom creep if you turn it 90° fronting the ground.. good investment for full frame camera

a marvelous lens. done great prints with it for fashion editorials and other types of work, commercial and artistic. tested it for some video too, it's a pure joy too. was lucky to find it like new. It's my favourite prime with the FA* 85 1.4 and ltd 31mm 1.8. on the K-1. just need a long rage zoom aside and there you have the the perfect quator for any situation.

this lens is overkill. spent 2 weeks with it from the day i finally managed to find one. used it at 30-35°Celsius for hours and some rain with no protection, better built than most of pentax's recent wr lenses. fast temperature/ pressure change didn't do anything, the lens is so well built. IQ is crazy sharp at all focal lenghts. it's impressive. I love the fact that it's like the FA* 80-200mm 2.8 in terms of contrasts, very nice smooth shadows rendering. autofocus is crazy fast too. AF tracking is excellent in daylight and almost dark situations. smooth fast and spot on. it's becoming my best lens for sports or any moving subjects, tracking, where i honestly don't see the point of having a 2.8 ..at 200 to 300mm. honestly for what? just to focus miss out more? :) It's an excellent lens for portraits too. I think it's the best zoom Sigma ever made and will ever make. And one of the best zooms ever. this lens is not only a 70-200 and 80-200 killer, but a 300mm prime killer too. Never been so impressed by a zoom lens. Voilą. :)

If you don't mind manual shooting (and honestly no good photographer does), this lens is a marvel. Tamron always made great lenses. This is one amazing. I don' t know what type of glass or coating Tamron used in some elements but highlights are crazy well controlled. It's sharpness is great at 2.5 , even on a 36mp sensor. Microcontrasts are very good. It delivers great prints at 180x120cm (it's the max i tested with) mine came without the hood. but it's not a problem in most situations if you mostly use it for portaits. You may use it for macro too with the adapter, but there are better options in terms on macro lenses on today's market.

This lens is one of the best surprises from sigma for a digital FF pentaxian. A pity it was discontinued. I can't think of a negative aspect for this lens. Of course , filter size is 82. it may seem big, but i see no complaint on 24-70mm that are the same. The perpective at 20mm is great. When compared head to head for wide angle portraits with the P FA 20mm 2.8 , this lens has something more, as i can decide to zoom in a bit or not in different circumstances. In terms of sharpness it surpasses the FA 20mm at 2.8, especially in corners. The only downside might be bokeh at 40mm. It's not the Pentax 40mm 2.8. But if background well choosen, it can be great. Flare is very well controlled for a big front element, and this lens has no HSM, which may be a good point for a photographer's piece of mind, in time. AF is amazingly fast and accurate on K-1. If you can find one and can test it, go for it.

This is my last acquisition for K-1 and it was not a lens i was looking for when bought it. Already have the P FA 35/2, and Zeiss Distagon 35/2 and very satisfied with both. But wanted to test a larger aperture when i saw it for 300euros deal with 2 yrs warranty in a pro shop (last piece). Was expecting to blow up the FA in sharpness but suprise, it surpasses the Distagon in terms of sharpness at F2 too. on the samyang, the focus throw is a bit short, but it's solid and precise. I'm really satisfied with the lens, if you choose your background well, the bookeh is amazing and pictures have a lot of character. The only thing i'm afraid, in time, is the glass quality of the front element. as i don't use uv filters. so i hope it has a good coating. but it can be a good lens on which to keep a permanent polarizer. conclusion, if you find it, buy it. this lens is great.
