I was lucky to pick one up for a very low price.....after monitoring for an opportunity to do so for quite a while...:) I am an ultra-wide 'LBA' guy and have many alternatives that I can compare this Sigma 15 with: e,g DA 10 17, Samyang 8, 10, 14 and DA 15, Sigma 8-16.....(and I used to have the DA 12 24 and Sigma 10 20) So How is this one doing then? Well....fantastic! It's a very nice walkaround on a K3 with grip. Bigger than the DA 15...but comparable very nice for snapshots and close focus, for street, for nature....and a bit more fun than the DA 15 (although I would never sell the DA 15! It has its own good qualities) here are some examples http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/crossRoad%202%20of%204_zpsvxfvo1xa.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/gatestoheaven%201%20of%201_zps06jwiohm.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/zwartwit%201%20of%205_zps4teewtl8.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/zwartwitklein%202%20of%205_zpsed8grgan.jpg

well this is again some piece of engineering. Combined with K3 and grip it balances very well and it is comparable with 50 135 in weight and size I use a Katz-eye and that helps with manual focus; for small objects I use the LV. Manual focus works very well as with all SY's (I own 8, 10, 14, 16, 24, 35, 85 and now this 135 :)) I like the fact that it can be used at 80cm (SY 85 needs 100 cm) good for portraits, walkaround, birding, street photography, bokeh-objects example photo's http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SamYang/GoodBusyProductions%203%20of%209_zpskfiacmie.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SamYang/GoodBusyProductions%206%20of%209_zpschi0gbqx.jpg [IMG]http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SamYang/SY135%203%20of%205_zpsb1rttmpv.jpg" alt=" [IMG]http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SY135%201%20of%204_zps9dd4xqdy.jpg" alt="

I have been waiting for this next jewel from SamYang....10mm It looks a bit like the 14mm calibration of this copy is OK; so distance scale is correct (and checked with Live View) a few examples.. https://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SamYang/SY1027of38_zpsc788c0f5.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/samyang103of11_zpse6661e79.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/SamYang/soelen3of9_zpsd86dafdb.jpg

This is again a TOP lens (I also have the 8mm and 24 mm) and I like this 16mm SY a lot. It can be used for both close focus and Landscape. I do use the Live View a lot (and info button to zoom in); this makes it easier to ensure the right focus of objects and DOF. I also use the KatzEye; with some practice the sharpness/focus will be spot on. some examples: http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/bij1of1_zps9fba2de6.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/keukenhof4of12_zpsd2d02b89.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/keukenhof2of12_zpsd2d1fe23.jpg

***Update per March 2014**** I have used and tried de 8mm, 14mm, 16mm, 85mm and like all of them:) This 24mm was on my wishlist...but I waited untill the price dropped appr. to the price I just paid. The field tests have been (again) positive on this new item...and I agree with all of the '++' and some '-' that have been mentioned (e.g. Lenstip): ++ IQ is very good across the whole frame and corners ++ you can focus closely on subjects - it takes time to focus correctly (the lens has a long throw...and adjustment to the optimal focus needs to be done using sight focus screen...maybe Katz-Eye with Optibrite would be an improvement...but in my case I will just go for the practice); **Update**: I have bought the KatzEye and also use the LiveView/Info button approach; this works ok. Here's a close focus: http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/koei--3_zps89d3656a.jpg~original Here's an example with moving objects; It takes time to focus correcly on the K5..but with some practice you will succeed:) like this example http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/samyang24-3386.jpg~original **Update**: And recently shot with K5IIs: http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/keukenhof9of12_zpscf84cd03.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/collection/keukenhof12of12_zps82d6bee7.jpg

I agree with aforementioned: very versatile walk around lens and fits very well with K20D with grip; very practical range; good AF stays a lot on my K20D; very nice colours and bokeh. I don't see them a lot on the market place in Pentax format though here are example photos http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/Kite1of7-2.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/mynameisnobody3of3.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/lesterdine3of1.jpg

I really like this Tammy and I use it for Outdoor photography With the K20D ít has a good balance for handheld shots; e.g these ones all handheld (Iso 640): http://i49.tinypic.com/2cnjwl.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/damhert1of7.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/damhert3of7.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/damhert6of7.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/damhert2of7-1.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af294/Don_Manzanita_Fookus/_IGP8730_Edit_5.jpg cheers Marcel
