It's been my go-to lens ever since my 50mm 1.7 broke. It's surprisingly weighty. If you're used to modern lenses, this lens will feel very heavy for its size. The lens' surface is metal with matte finish, it matches K-5 so well. It's very beautiful to look at. Sharpness is very good among lenses of similar FL and aperture. I'm not too much of a fan of its focus ring, however. It's half teethed, and half smooth. Kinda like in a wave pattern. Maybe it's preferable to some, but definitely not for me. Doesn't affect IQ at all, but kind of bothersome. Thanks to multi-coating, flare control is excellent even with a short 1" round hood I (temporarily) have. I have a few 50mm-58mm f/1.4 - f/2 lenses, and this is my favorite non Pentax lens.

I actually bought this lens as a mistake. I thought I was getting the one with the Macro Zone, but got this one instead. Seeing as I have other 135mm lens, there was no need for this one, but thought to check the lens out nonetheless. A bit surprised at its performance. Contrast lacks a bit, but a hood might help. The built one hood is pitifully short, extends about 1.5cm. It's quite compact, and the build quality is good. Focus ring has a good feel to it. The focus ring is wrapped in tiny rubber studs, your fingers won't slip. It's not that sharp open wide, but gets quite nice one or two steps slower. It has about 1.4 meter minimum focus, so that is somewhat a con. Check the images below. Shot at 1pm under a bright sun. I believe they are shot open wide, but it could very well be anywhere from f2.8-f5.6. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7176/6982834681_eb8cc9474a_z.jpg Auto SEARS MC 135mm f/2.8 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6982834623_39a7c196a5_z.jpg Auto SEARS MC 135mm f/2.8 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7043/6982834527_7293c54571_z.jpg Auto SEARS MC 135mm f/2.8 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr

Bought it for the adaptall 2, but I ended up liking it. I wouldn't use it wide open all the time, but It's not so bad. Hard to keep the focus since the throw is sensitive (might be this copy), and hard to hand-hold it steady past 85mm since the zoom barrel is a pump, once pumped in to tighter FL, you run out of places to hold it steady without messing with the focus. Technicality aside, it's not a bad lens for such a low price. Won't take it with me to an important event, but will use it from time to time for fun. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6968243325_7739e5bf17_b.jpg IMGP7568 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7046/6968393453_bd755fd5c3_b.jpg Tamron Adaptall 2 70-210mm f/3.8-4 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr

What an oddball of a lens! Got it for $20 on eBay recently, mounted it on my K20D and started taking photos. Bokeh certainly is the selling point of this lens. It's either love it or hate it kinda thing. It's cheap, sharp enough to use wide-open, and the dual-aperture has a cool application to it. Focus ring turns about 270 degrees, which is a lot of precision at your fingertips. Good or bad, I suppose. This lens has one of the worst flare control on a prime I've had to deal with so far. Unwanted light washes photos out even with a [short] hood. Maybe getting a long tele hood might help? It doesn't look bad, it actually looks kinda like a special layer of effect applied on it. But in my opinion, less flare, the better. Overall, this is a pleasant surprise. Bokeh alone makes up for the any imperfections this lens might have. At f/2.0, it's not the fastest prime, but it's not the slowest either. Definitely worth my $20. Photos to back up my claim. (full size AND description on Flickr, so do go to my flickr account for further explanation) First is just to show you how bokeh renders with this lens: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6035/6366255115_3802ae20f4_z.jpg IMGP9653 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6052/6366040991_82a7d20935_z.jpg IMGP9652 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6113/6366041071_8a7d8aa84e_z.jpg IMGP9654 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr NOW here's the bad bleeding lights: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6058/6366041149_cf6f7e835c_z.jpg IMGP9660 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr Next two photos are similar one. Fast 30mm Prime for Pentax. Direct competitor to FA 31mm LTD. This lens has great sharpness in the center of the frame. Corners seem to fade quite harshly in wider apertures. This is a con when compared to FA31mm, but it's a complete con. I use this lens as a wider portrait photos to capture full body, waist and up photos, and the lack of corner sharpness actually helps me achieve what I like to do better. From a certain distance, this lens does an amazing job at isolating subject from the surroundings, creating a unique 3-D effect. I mainly use this lens from f/1.4 - f/2.8 on most cases. AF holds well, focuses accurately on my K20D, and images are sharp open wide (at least in the center) One part about this lens I dislike is the bokeh. It renders bokeh somewhat triangularly. Instead of bokeh looking round, lights turn triangular shape.

I too, have the earlier version of this lens, the Mini-Wide, but it performs very well and produces great photos. Beside the the exterior (it's bigger, but still 52mm thread), I don't know how much the II versions improved on optics. It's sharp at wide open, but suffers from CA. Not unacceptable, but it's one of those "could be better" thing. Bokeh is not bad. blurring characteristics are superb for (mini) wide angle lens. Minimal focus distance is about 4 inches from the outer glass. It's not the best lens for other 28mm lens out there for pentax cameras, but it certainly does the job. If you consider the price of this lens, this one is a good catch. Pardon my Anime nerdiness, but I've done some testing shots at f/2.8. Note: THIS IS THE MINI-WIDE I, NOT THE II, so the actual II might be a different story, but shouldn't be all that different. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6031/6285268293_1667d2eb41_b.jpg IMGP7901 by RickyFromVegas, on Flickr
