This lens is simply amazing. It's heavy construction gives a feeling of total quality and craftsmanship from a bygone era. It's only equal I have found is the SMC K 1.4 50mm and 55mm 1.8. Well, that and the takumar 85 1.9. I like it so much, I bought 2 copies. It's uniqueness is in the golden warm hue is leaves on images. An excellent portrait lens or walk around prime. Most highly recommended.

I have this lens labeled Sears 50mm 1.7 in white letters. It is the same lens as the Chinon. The colors this lens produces are very vibrant and sharpness is excellent. Bokeh is nice but really nothing too spectacular. I really bought this lens to use with an extension tube for macro photos. It is outstanding for this. I get really sharp close-up pictures with very nice contrast and rich a color hue to them. I have several fast fifties and although this is not the best one I have it excels if your looking for great color and contrast pics. Only real downside is the plastic aperture ring. A good buy.

I bought this Rikenon 50mm 1.7 attached to an old TLS Singlex. The camera was a little worn, but the lens was in mint condition. It's a beautifully built lens, similar in some regards to the taks but I believe this lens to be a tomioka design. I own a lot of 50 and 55 primes, and to be honest, they are all good. This one is an interesting bugger. It's sharp even at 1.7 but definitely improves in sharpness when you stop down like all fast primes. Contrast is a little low and colors are definitely on the cooler side. I think it gives an interesting vintage look to pictures. One interesting thing is the bokeh. It's really a mixed bag. Some shots are kinda muted and washed out in the background, but then others have this super unique swirly bokeh around them. I really like it. The Rikenon 50mm 1.7 isn't not the best overall prime I own, that is a toss up between my SMC K 50mm 1.4 SMC K 55mm 1.8 and Mamiya/Sekor 55 1.4. It really does have it's own personality and makes a nice addition to my collection. Here is an example of that swirly background. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=6395&pictureid=58412&thumb=1

The Sears 300MM lens is a fine telephoto prime. It is constructed in a very similar fashion to the takumar line. In fact, I can see how many people think there may be some relation. This lens has an Auto/Manual ring located below the aperture ring. It's a heavy lens, but mine came with a built-in tripod mount. Very handy. Image quality is very good, but lens seems to lack the contrast of my other primes. It's really not that big of a deal since I can always add that in PP. A tripod is necessary unless good daylight is available. I'm pleased with this lens. Here is a cool picture I got of a red tail hawk flying over my backyard. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=6395&pictureid=56193

I have the Sears 135mm f2.8 lens in m42 mount as well as the 300mm f5.5 lens which I will review later. The 135mm lens was a complete surprise. The build quality is very Takumar-like. Quite a compliment. The main visual difference is the auto/manual switch is located on a ring below the aperture not a protruding switch like on the Taks. I had no plans to replace my SMC Pentax m 135 3.5 but this lens is way better in the bokeh arena. Contrast is very good as are colors. There is some slight CA in bright light, but a hood seems to help. A wonderful surprise and a lens I wholeheartedly recommend. Oh, BTW this lens is apparently a Tokina early production line. I'm certainly a fan. Here is a sample of the nice bokeh at f2.8 https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=6395&pictureid=56190&thumb=1

The soligor 28-55mm f3.3 lens is a cool little zoom. It looks almost as small as some of my primes and has a really useful macro feature. This lens was manufactured for Soligor by Sun optical. If you find one, I highly recommend you give it a try. The focal length is a little limited, but it is built with metal parts and seems very sturdy as many older lenses are. Here is a shot around f4.5 of one of my favorite things with this lens. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=6260&pictureid=55712&thumb=1

What a neat lens. Heavy as a tractor, but built like a tank. It has 4 rings. One for the Aperture, one for the Macro function, one for the zoom, and the one for the focus. Seems like a lot to handle, but relatively easy to maneuver. The filter thread is 58mm. This lens is apparently the same as the Soligor version made by Kobori in Japan. If you buy this lens, you should note that the rear flange around the bottom will need to be removed in order to fit on a modern Pentax DSLR. It is too large and will not lock in properly. A relatively easy fix. you can unscrew the flange part or take it off, dremmel the flange and screw it back on the lens. Coatings seem to resist flare well and bokeh is nice, although cannot compare to a prime. Overall a very cool lens. Here is my favorite shot taken with this old zoom. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=6260&pictureid=55151
