Yashinon lenses are often copies of ZEISS lenses - because of a former joint verturebetween ZEISS and Kyocera.:):):) *************************PAY ATTENTION*********************** The old 1.9/50 version named YASHICA, not yet YASHINON ist still a few better than this one. because of its optical design 6/4 instead 6/5 elements.(double Gauss like PLANAR) ++ robust metall-glass construction ++ very good sharpness (1.9 version +++ excellent) ++ very good color rendition +/++ nice bokeh + good correction of CAs (1.9 version ++ very good) - wide open visible, disappearing at f 5.6 +/O wide open some flare, nearly no flare stopped down:o great value full recommendation with 8.5 points

Because of the big zoom range ther are compromises to deal with thie lens / objectiv avec quelches compromis à cause de la grande dimension focale all over a good lens, but with some weak points / en resumé un bon objectiv, mais avec des faiblesses : + good sharpness at 28mm, but stopped down to f 9 - f 13 / :fedup::fedup: bon piqué à 28 mm, mais avec f 9-13 -/O weak corner sharpness at 28mm, even with f 13 / manque de netteté à 28 mm dans les coins :(:(:( -/O some visble corner CAs at 28 mm, even stopped down / à 28 mm quelques ACs visibles, même à diaphragme fermé +/++ good to very good sharpness from approx. 50 to 150 mm and much more better CAs' correction / entre 50 et 150 mm plus de netteté et la correction des aberrations chromatiques apparaît presque parfaite :):):) O flare on tele range from 200 to 300 mm / à partir de 200 mm plus de flou :mad::mad: -/O 250-300 mm less sharp, and CAs becomes a problem once more / de nouveau des problèmes avec ACs entre 250 et 300 mm et moins de puiqué CONCLUSION / RESUMÉ : for analogue and small digital photos a good performer, for professional posters there is much work to deal with PhSh after shooting / pour la photographie argentiique et des petites photos numériques un bon copain, mais pour des agrandissements professionels il y a une foule d'améliorement avec PHSh à faire.:eek::eek:

O Inspite of lens hood some flare wide open - against the sun light +/++ sharpness stopped down a few good to very good + neutral color rendition -/ O wide open some visible CAs + stopped down good CA correction Its front elements are easy to scew away :):):) so that you'll get a phantastic macro pre-lens-adpater for tele-zooms :lol::lol: 7.5 points totally für this fine lens at a low price

AN OVERRATED LENS - FOR BOKEH-FREAKS ===================================== For such a lot of money I expect best results - but not at all ! This lens is decentered, obviously.:lol::lol: ++ best center sharpness, undoubtably 10 points O/- edge sharpness not real sharp wide open, CAs and double contures :o:o:o - 5 points O f 3.5-4 moderate sharpness in the edges, double contures and still visible CAs, even with APS-C :o:o:o O/+ better values of sharpness at f 8-11 - disappearing CAs and double contures eliminated Why fore these results ? - I suspect some plastic elements in the interior :o:o:o ++ for portaits with great bokeh part in the edges very good O for architecture and landscapes : pay attention to the weakness in the edges - shut / stop down the aperture to f 8-11 :(:(:( I'd borrowed this lens - no decision to buy this overrated lens, never ! 7 points only - because of the high price and the bad edges

++ If you stop down to f 11 very sharp in the center :fedup::fedup: O/- corners are not so sharp, even with f11, especially at 28mm :o:o:o + CAs are well controlled a few overlighted/overexposed, scarecely visble in the edges ;););) - CAs are visible in the corners if exposure will be a few underlighted/underexposed or in the shadows :o:o:o ++ for portraits highly recommended, even wide open :lol::lol: ++ macro shootings using a 36 mm macro ring at 105 mm and with f 11 very sharp :rolleyes::rolleyes: O for street photography, architecture, landscapes you must sharpen with Photoshop after exposure and use a tripod and 1/2 to 1 value overlighted/overexposed recommended yes, but only 7,5 Ppoints :o:o:o

Optical design very similar to Tokina 3.5/200 and Vivitar 3.5/200 +/++ stopped down to f8-11 a really sharp lens :lol::lol: + neutral color rendition O visible flare against the light (same problem as Tokina 3.5/200) O aperture wide open: visible CAs, especially in the corners + CAs better controlled at f 8-11 VERY IMPORTANT FOR MACRO PHOTOGRAPHERS: ++ achromatic front part very usefull as macro lens element on the top of a PORST auto N 2.8/135 (very rare, worse auto D's 2.8/135 are frequent) plus macro ring with (self made of a 8x30 binocular front 2/1 element) integrated therein as a achromatic focus reducer. In result : 2/1 (achronmatic front lens element of 3.5/200) + 5/4 (Porst auto N 2.8/135) + 2/1 elements = 9/6 macro lens for perfectly corrected 1,25:1 macro shootings. Photos of very small flowers are available. Naturally M42 with K adapter.:fedup::fedup: very inexpensive +++ absoltuly no more CAs at f11 and extreme sharpness with the a.m. triple construction. Try it ! Totally 8 points :):):) and recommended - stopped down PS. My Carenar favorite lens is 1.8/50 with 6/4 elements and nearly no CAs (similar to old Canon FD 1.8/50) - but some flare against the light because of small coating. Optical design of Carenar 3.5/200 is 5/4 elements

:):):) as teacher of digital photography I've had the opportunity to test a lot of lenses. A big zoom doesn't allow a perfect lens performance over the full range. ++ But between 70 and 135 mm this lens is very sharp, stopped down to f 8-11 and really usefull for macro shootings with extension tube of 36mm f.e with f 11-16. ++ very well corrected CAs in this middle zoom range :fedup::fedup: ++ color rendition is neutral and comparable to Cosina, Soligor and Vivitar lenses with a similar zoom range. ++ contrast is high, stopped a few down O at 200 mm purple fringing/CA's visible, at 28mm in the corners, too (but even expensive modern high tech ED lenses with this big zoom range have the same problem). 45 points : 5 = 9 points in averidge :lol::lol: recommendation yes, but main using between 75 and 135 mm with best results, for portraits with f 5.6-8 at 28 mm and 200m with bokeh in the edges.

This old a.m. lens is really not so good. It is named also REVUENON SPEZIAL and with screw mount M42 - I've sold it immediately. :o:o:o THERE IS A LOT OF kinds of REVUENON LENSES 2.8/135, because of some different joint ventures of QUELLE, GERMANY. The newest version of AUTO REVUENON comes from Japan (not GDR). It is shorter and characterized by a black lines grip. It is astonishing better - much more better :):):) ++ sharpness excellent, from f 2.8-11 :fedup::fedup: ++ excellent color rendition :lol::lol: ++ high contrast +/++ nealy no flare + scarecely CAs ******************************************************************************************************************** PAY ATTENTION TO the rubber grip with lines - this edition is much more better than the older one !!! ********************************************************************************************************************* +++ changed review for newer PK-lens +++:lol::lol: unfortuately very rare available !!!

PAY ATTENTION: there are a lot of kinds of REVUENON 2.8/135 of different producers - very fines and really weak ones !!! In www.allphotolenses REVUENON 2.8/135 gets valuation of 4,5/5 points, i.e.9/10 points for optical quality !!! :o:o:o: Mines is a 4/4 lens construction with CA's wide open when shooting stars :o - a normal phenomena without an achromatic element. I've bought this lens with good blue coating (perhaps a later model with changed lens construction ?) - So I've got blue CA's wide open at f 2.8 when stars were shooted. But stopped down to f 8-11 these CA's will diappear, nearly totally  ++ very good sharpness beginning from f4 to f 5.6 = it is a good performer for portrait photography :):):) ++ very nice bokeh :lol::lol: + few flare, good contrast, stopped down a few to f 4- f 5.6 O wide open blue CA's in the center and red in the corners, will disappear when stopping down to f 5.6-8 ++ excellent color rendition PAY ATTENTION, in order to buy a good lens with blue coating, because - like PORST - REVUE had changed suppliers very often, some came from former GDR and Japan - and these lenses are really good I use it for portraits and its "plastic brother" (see below) for macro shootings with an achromatic focal reductor - self made by one of the binocular 8x30 top / front lenses, fitted into a PK- and a M42- macro ring ; 8.5 points totally Remark: many new lenses with golden rings and highest prices have wide open similar CA's **************************************************** ATTENTION **************************************************** I've bought an old AUTO REVUENON M42 2.8/135 - made of plastics (very similar to "Porst TELE"/ Ennalyt and ISCO plastic performance (all 4 lenses produced by ISCO or ENNA?) - but 5/4 construction with one achromate element. These lenses are very sharp and without CA's at f 5.6. The above mentioned metal version for outdoor, the cheaper plastic version for close ups and with macro ring for macro shootings of butterflies f.e. !!! Ah - with the self scotched focal reductor a 7/5 elements construction and as result brighter 2.4/110 mm macro lens with extreme sharpness and no visible CAs - for pea nuts as costs !!! :):):):lol::lol: :):):) PS. oh - for astrophotography you must take a MF TAKUMAR 2.5/135 stopped down to f4-5.6 or the famous tokina 4/100-300 with ED element !!! No more blue CA's visible - ISO 51.600 highest contrast as filter with k-5, k-s1 and K-s2 and max. 2-3 sec. - wonderfull photos of orion nebula and of plejades (even without astro tracer) possible. Try it.

same 5/5 lens construction as OLYMPIA 4/300 and SUPER ALBINAR 4/300 - I've got no monday production :lol::lol: with some intelligent modification - see below - a wonderfull sharp and usefull tele lens ! 0/+ all these 4/300 lenses have wide open, i.e.not stopped down to f 8-11 one problem - few CA's in the edges, but not stronger than modern AF zoom lenses 70-300 mm, but much more sharper !!! ++ But stopped down to f 8-11 CA's will disappear nearly totally and sharpness will be excellent !!! + nice neutral color rendition ++/+ stopped down to f 8-11 high contrast. As teacher of digital photography I've bought a lot of different "cheap" 4/300 lenses for my pupils. Like Zeiss sonnar 4/300 this lens is one of the best single lenses at low costs !!! Who has the money buy a short 4/300 A of Pentax, but it is very rare !!! ++ with a (self made of a binocular 8x30) focal reducer O,85 and 36mm extension tube excellent macro shootings of butterfies, so you'll have an approx. 3.5/255 macro lens with - stopped down to f11 - very good results  the construction is 5/5 - with focal reducer between camera and lens 7/6, and with additional tele-converter 1.8x high definition sioccore 5/3 additionally on the top I've got approx. 3.5/460 mm in 12/9 construction !!! This will be with digital crop factor 3.4/690 mm for birds shootings. Important Remark: the actual 4/300 ED is naturally usuable without CA's starting with full open aperture f4, but for a much more higher price, but stopped down this lens you'll have similar sharpness. The former M42 4/300 Takumar is - compared with this lens - terrible, because of the very strong CA's - they will not disappear over all aperture range. 9.5/100 points for my lens - scrarecely different to the excellent Sonnar 4/300 of CZJ with fluorite glass.

This 4/4 lens construction has absolutely very strong visible CA's. Mines. Perhaps a monday product? The color fringings are orange-red and green-blue visible still at normal notebook size viewing (12,5%). Stopping down and the CA's will remain. No change at all. It is the worst tele lens, I ever had used on my pentax cameras:o:o:o It is a shame lens for Tamron ! They would have better done to include two achromates at least, additionally ! I regret - no recommendation from me because of strong CA's! :o:o:o PS. maybe there is an earlier or later 6/4 element version - this must be better. I've bought a TAMRON 23A - this lens is really extremely sharp and because of 15/11 element construction nearly free from CA'S (Sorry - mines - i.e.5.6/300 - has been delivered without achromatic elements = 8 inner reflections against the sunlight instead of 10 reflections of a 6/4 design! It was a 4/4 elements construction as above mentioned.): o:o:o

An excellent macro lens at a low price. :):):) Macro tele lenses cost generally 300-500 dollars, in averidge. this lens - similar to soligor - is a good decision, rarely to find, unfortunately ! ++ sharpness with f 8-11 excellent  ++ CA's at f 8-11 nearly none +/++ high contrast ++ neutral color rendition ++ light weight :):):) For butterflies I'm using generally a front lens tele converter Sioccore 1.8x high definition and an additional macro ring of 35 mm. 5/4 elemments of Cosinon + 5/3 elements of Sioccore = a 10/7 macro tele construction in MF of 3.5/180 of excellent resolution, because the sioccore glass elements are to heavy for the AF-motor of Cosinon!!! Because of the quick movements of these insects you'll need a HSS flash. With 1/1000 sec synchro time + HSS flash the insects will be shooted sharp enough at f 11-16 9.5 points :)

:lol::lol: perhaps I've bought an item of another production line of this lens. The inscripure "MC" of my lens is white, not yellow as above to see!!! So I've got an improved version, probably!!!:confused::confused: ***** For me a bad lens has huge CA's and enormous flare or it is impossible to get really sharp pictures with it - but nothing of these negative deviations has my lens. ***** I'd got a 4.5/80-200 this should be rated with 6 points (strong CA's,. not so sharp). But this 4.5-5.6/70-210 is a quite different optical construction. And the new edition of this lens has 210mm instead of 200mm. + sharp lens, but not very sharp, especially at 300mm telephoto - this lens seems to be overcorrected +++ there are nearly no visible CA's but 250 to 300 mm are really a few weak and not so sharp;) and gives you less contrast stopped down to f 11-16 better results

very similar to Exakta, Tokina and Vivitar lenses ++ stopped down a few extremely sharp within the full focus range:) ++ high contrast, no flare, nearly no CA`s, very nice colors I use this llens in combination with an achromatic focal reductor, which reduces the tele-impression, but gives me still a few more sharp pictures - and all CA's can be eleminated. Try it

An interesting macro lens, which optical qualities are - for a zoom lens - nearly perfect (similar to a Zeiss single lens) and incuding a macro extension ring. So you don't need bellow or additional extension tubes.:lol::lol: Wow !!! this is not often to find. I perceived the integrated macro tube later, because it is unusual, that by a ring can be activated it, if you pull lens to approx. 150- 200mm. :):):)You must turn the full 5cm ring to the right side and "MACRO RATIO" will appear. 1:5. What an additional inexpensive feature ! I've developped a special self made macro ring from VIA with a focal reductor therein (mono ocular, 30mm diameter glass, achromate 2/1 elements). By this way focal range reduces to approx 50-125mm, but macro shootings are extremely sharp up to 1:2 - 1:1,5 with f 11, approximately.. An enormous advantage !!! ++ very sharp macro shootings available:fedup::fedup::fedup: - MUCH MORE THAN AVERIDGE !!! ++/+ very few CA's in the corners in macro mode, scarecely visible - visible only on very big posters. ++ neutral color rendition ++ high contrast A special tele macro tele lens of 200mm will be much more expensive.... (500 to 1000$) you must accustom only to use 2 rings: front ring and you special a.m. macro ring - but results will be excellent:):):) highly recommended by me!!! Ps the Super Albinar 3,5/80-200 version is in the centre very sharp, too, but in the corners strong visible CA's of the other, brighter f3,5-version!!! The better version is the 3.9/80-200. I love it ! :):):) LENS RESOLUTION 75 LP = 150 lines /mm at very high level (with Fuji x-T100 24 MP) - self tested by test poster 48x72 cm. (with K-5 16 MP 60 LP = 120 lines /mm) - these are very good single lens values !!!

There are two versions of 12 mm - I've bought the 2.0 version with simpler optical construction :o sharpness of my item is not so dramaticaly good: I must stop down to f 8-11, in order to get sharp pictures just up to the extreme corners on the left side. I suppose, that my lens has been decentered still by factory. I.e. it is sharper on the right side and not so sharp on the left side, that is why it must stopped down so hard. If I've improved my pictures by PhSh (sharpness), nice pictures a good lens, but not 10 full points for my monday production - I regret only 7.5 points, but nevertheless recommended (only fuji x-t100 reduces CAs by internal program)

perhaps there are some troubles of production or an improvement of newer lenses? My tokina 2,6-2,8/28-70 or Meyer Domiplan 2,8 was my worst lens because of strong CA's - but this one is a normal lens, well corrected, not without CA's, but acceptable. flare stopped down a few not remarcable, nice colours, good contrast this is not my best lens, but for me a really fine performer averidge 8,6 points = 9 points

perhaps I've got a better (older?) version with a 7/6 optical construction, not 5/5 elements and for 55mm filters an additional weight of approx. 20 g. I've tried to use this lens as macro lens with a converter 7/5 elements - wow :):):) + very sharp O/+ some few CA's in the corners in landscapes ++ really very sharp flowers and butterflies. excellent sharpness until edges on close-ups My front lens of mines seems to be much more bigger. So pay attention: the 7/6-element version is much more better. This above mentioned 5/5-lens is the newer one, and it seems to be not so good !!! The older version is much more better ++++++++ pay attention to 2 further Super excellent ALBINAR lenses +++++++++:lol::lol: 2.8/135 and 3.5/80-200 (very rare):lol::lol: The 2.8/135 is - inspite of 4/4 elements only - at f 8-11 excellent in colors, contrast, sharpness and correction of CAs The 3.5/80-210 is very inexpensive and my secret tip: it has an integrates macro ring. The correction in the edges is similar to modern zoom lenses at a much more higher price. But it is very rare to find (2 ring zoom).:fedup::fedup:

I've got a fine, nice item without optical defaults as another Pentax-friend. may be decentered monday product will be worse ??? I can confirm, this is a very precious lens at a really low price: ++ very high sharpness, + good sharpness in corners (there is one unique standard lens - "Tessar 2.8/50". produced by ZEISS JENA, Germany, spelled ''eagle's eye" which has in corners at f 8 as high resolution as in center - compare test in www.e-photozine.com) ++ excellent color rendition, ++ very nice bokeh and contrast. +/++ very few flare +/++ very well controlled, scarely visible very small CA's on big posters :):):) fully recommended - 9.5 points PS. I am using this lens regulary with Kenko macro tele converter 2x - 7/5 construction, which means 6/5 + 7/5 = 13/10 element macro lens at f8-11 for very well corrected, very sharp macro shootings of butterflies and bees !!! A further variant is the PORST AUTO N 2.8/135 (not auto D!) with 5/4 elements and front 1.8x sioccore high definition tele converter (5/3 elements) for far distant photo objects (with macro ring). :):):)

I use it only for butterflies with an additional macro ring - an achromatic 2/1 lens element integrated in the ring = focal reducer 0.7x. ++ excellent sharpness ++ 5/4 lens construction and fluorite glass will guarantee nearly no CA's So I've changed optical construction from 5/4 to 7/5 with astonishing results: absolutely no CA's and very high sharpness of details:lol::lol::lol: Because of my very sharp macros: 9.5 points totally

this lens must be stopped down a few (2 steps) such as the most single lenses of 1,4/50,. Then most of them show their high qualities. I'm not a friend of totally wide open apertures. That's why the construction with 3 achromatic lenses reaches high sharpness in my opinion. Pentax and other brands have so much cameras with 8oo to 1600 iso performances with to give us high quality shootings, so that we a capable to use such a lens in higher iso range, too With macro ring very and flash - stopped down nearly fully (f11) - very sharp photos.:):):) Perhaps there are two different models in the market and i've got an improved version? Pay attention !!! :) :) :)Obviously, there are two different editions of this lens !!!:lol:The better one has a bigger front lens, the cheaper one has a smaller front lens. The better one has been named Cosinon, the cheaper one Cosina !!! In order to get the better one, the middle ring must be structured like the big front ring. highly recommended lens, small lens with high performence, good contrast, nice colors, really very few CA's, scarecely visible in big poster size. My lens is - Cosinon 3.5-4.5/35-70 ! - zoomed to 35mm much more better than the famous Pentax Takumar 3.5/35. Why for? The Pentax has strong CA's in the corner:o - but this has nearly none. If you can get one, buy it:) very sharp in the corners when stopping a few down to f8 50mm are sharper than DA 18-55 standard lens. sometimes an older lens construction seems to be better than some recent zooms with gold rings at a high price:lol: suitable for beginning adults and children photographers perhaps other guys has got one with decentered optics pentax F35-70 has a few better color rendition, a few higher contrast still wide open ps.don't forget: new Pentax DA lenses have a plastic housing;too . in different colours;) I've discovered that standard sharpness is the best with k200. with k-5 of my son I must sharpen with PhSh after shooting, and colors are not so brilliant as with k200. perhaps this is the reason of different results full recommendation. Compare and verfy with test indicated below: some test picture+video with this lens visible at: blog.bkspicture.com/review_Cosina_Cosinon-Z_35-70mm_f3.5-4.5_MC.html if you'll make a double click on the picture you'll discover an at least 60x80cm poster confirming my recensation for f 8 Ps. The cheaper Cosina edition is not so sharp at 35 mm in the corners and has therein some visible CA's - 3 points less

(the early versions have much more visible CA's) as teacher of digital photography I've bought 8 items of this lens. there are 2 types non AF adaptall II and at least three types AF (one with the additional name SUPER). The adaptall version 171A seems to be the best non AF version, my best AF version is the 371D. It is a MACRO version. I think that Tamron has improved this lens step by step during the years.:):):). there are two types on the market, an older 6/4 and a newer 6/5 construction. the striped look has the better construction, but is wide open a few weak. the newer construction has higher contrast, but few CA's in the corners wide open. Both are phantastic lenses, similar to Pentax 1,7/50 and 1,8/55. Pentax's SMC coating is still better for contrast rendition and not so weak wide open, naturally. The German so called "eagles eye" in 4/3 scheme is an old achromatic "triplet of Cook" construction of CARL ZEISS JENA, but very effective. / cet objektif - nommé oeil d'un aigle - a une lentille achromatique et un schéma 4/3 très simple, mais effectif ! :):):) You can use it for close-ups with an achromate either in front or on back side between lens and SLR. This optical system will change to 6/4. results are really very nice and sharp, afterwards. So you don't need an additional macro lens, which is very expensive. (ok by this way you'll miss the floating macro tube until 1:1,perhaps) But you'll get phantastic macros, nevertheless. O/+ wide ope some CAs visible, disappearing at f 8 / diaphragme fermé: ne plus de ACs visibles ++ nice color rendition / couleurs jolies ++ wide open still not so sharp, but f 8-11 will give you an excellent sharpness up to the edges. And the contrast will increase enormously. 80 LP = 160 lines / lignes / mm = 2.650 lines / lignes (APS-C):lol::lol: :fedup::fedup:

this lens has an achromate in its front part, that's why it is very precious for macro shootings, if you use it together with a macro tube with integrated biconvex achromatic lens of a binocular 8x30 f.e..It's like a focus reducer for astronomy. i've done so with a macro ring Pentax of the cheap brand VIA. The original 5/4 construction will change by this way to an optical high value macro lens of approximately 2.8/100 with 7/5 consttruction. Such as a ZEISS original lens, but this part is really very expensive. Ok it's only an auxiliar construction, but at very low cost and gives you really excellent results. try it...:)

PS.: Further Carl Zeiss Jena lenses 2.8/50, 1.8/50, 2.8/80 six, 4/135, 2.8/180 six, and 4/300 six with best optical qualities are available and also highly recommended :):):) .

a really good lens with some flare and a good sharpness. I'd got it.Sun in back and stopped down to f 8-11 nice pictures to shoot with it.:) Last element is apochromatic (3/1).That's why CA's are well controlled. Much more better than old M42 4/300 Takumar with 5/5 system amd terrible visible CA's.

this classic glass metal construction without ED lenses seems to be much more better then modern plastic constructions. very content with this lens for analogue and digital SLR. highly recommended because of high contrast and nice colors. 135mm stopped down to f11 very sharp macro shootings with macro ring possible:)

one or two achromatic lenses additionally would do good to this lens. I had bought this lens but sold it very quickly because of strongly visible CA's:o perhaps a mistake of production? wide open not really sharp in corners:( I was absolutely not content with this lens:(:(:(sorry ps. pictures like above are improved by Photoshop - strong CA's eliminated, higher contrast and colors much more intensively elaborated:o

just similar macro experiences with this lens for flowers and butterflies one of the best lenses at a very low price :):):) contrast sharpness and bokeh are very fine still wide open suitable for portraits, too with 70mm - very sharp  nearly as sharp as macro 4/100 takumar at 100-135mm less CA's than o.m.4/100 +++++ warning +++++ ps. pay attention! there are two production lines! the better (old) one has green macro gravure and is shorter and heavier:lol:. the worse (new) one has blue and yellow gravures and is much more light. ok? that's why so different results in judgement!:o but the newer one is a good to very good perfromer, too optical disign 12/8 elements f. the old edition. 10/7 for the newer edition :o:o:o

my lens hasn't these strong CA problems (perhaps version II). Any phenomena of CA will disappear; when stopped down to f11 in close up range and using an achromatic focal reductor. (I use it for 4/100 bellows, too) For this purpose you must fit a glass from 8x30 binocular into a PK maco ring. So I've got a cheap macro zoom from approx 65 to 175mm with excellent optical qualities:lol:

Much more brigther than 18-55 :):):) ++ nice contrast, ++ very fine color rendition ++ really very sharp, even in the corners + very low CAs in the corners suitable for close-ups, too, but not a special extreme macro lens:fedup: one of my best wide angle-small tele zooms fot pertraits and landscapes ***************************************************************************************************** VERY IMPORTANT: modern zooms of his range are not so good corrected in the corners ***************************************************************************************************** very good centered optics ;););) nearly perfect - one of my best lenses - full recommendation

Great zoom range of improved 571 D version with MUCH MORE BETTER SHARPNESS AND CORRECTION THAN EARLIER 171 D VERSION :lol::lol: PAY ATTENTION: This "sun shine lens" must be stopped down - between f 9 and f 13 best results ! +/O aperture wide open only fair sharpness, especially at 200 mm +/++ good to very good sharpness with f 11 over the full range + high contrast ++ beautiful colour rendition ++ very carefully corrected CA's at 28mm :):):) Try to get the newer 571 D version, The lower evaluation concerns the old 171 D version. It is really a big difference between both versions ! Use higher ISO and stop it down + short 1/500 sec, in order to get wonderful pictures with this lens :):):) - FULL RECOMMENDATION Ps. Close ups with 36mm macro ring at 135mm f 11 possible !

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE FOR MACRO SHOOTINGS BECAUSE OF NEARLY PERFECT CORRECTION FOR CLOSE UPS.:lol::lol: I've undoubtably got one of the best versions This is a very sharp lens similar to the famous and very expensive Zeiss 4/80-200. The old 3-ring-construction has one achromatic element more than many other comparable tele zooms. +++ excellent sharpness (landscapes, portraits, street photography etc.) ++/+ very good to good sharpness - close ups (from 1:3 up to 1:2) +/++ high contrast ++ neutral color rendition +++ no CAs at aperture 5.6-11 (landscapes, portraits, street photography etc.) + CA control good enough for close ups with a.m. long macro ring/ very small CAs visible + agreable bokeh O three ring operation I use it for macro shootings as bees, flowers and butterflies with an additional macro ring of 36 mm :) :) :) Butterflies on a flower are often fleeing very quickly, so that a longer distance to these objects is affordable. With 205 mm tele + 36mm macro ring the distance to the small objects (approx. 3x4 inches = 7.5x10cm) is more than 50 inches or 1,35 meter from the rear side of the camera - a huge advantage ! TRY IT.:fedup::fedup: The CA-correction is similar and sharpness is still better than of the 3.5-4.5/70-210 APO MACRO of SIGMA at a much more higher price. My lens has no dust no fungus no scratches. Many thanks to Vivitar - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY ME ! PS. the distance is approx. half at 1:2 (2x3 inches = 5x7.7 cm) with approx 70 cm

for portraits is nothing better.:fedup::fedup: (very similar to Vivitar and Soligor 3.5-4.5/28-70 macro) brighter than 18-55 easy to handle it. sharp until corners ***** VERY IMPORTANT *****:o the modern big 24-70 lenses cost a lot and are not so sharp in the edges as this lens !!!:lol::lol: one of my fovorites !!! PS. high resolution with up tp 65 LP/mm = 130 lines/mm at iso 200. This is a professional value.
