Build quality is superb. Smooth focus with clicks in at infinity. Very sharp lens out to the corners. Distortion is very well controlled. Little bit of vignetting but not bad. Easily fixable in post processing, if necessary. Very easy to use, for most my shots I set it on at infinity and set the aperture more than f5.6 to get every things in focus. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/7921-patriot/albums/7351-usa-trip/picture108706.jpg https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/7921-patriot/albums/7351-usa-trip/picture108653.jpg https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/7921-patriot/albums/7351-usa-trip/picture108375.jpg

The built quality and the finish are just superb, I have used it for 4 years now, starting on my K10 and k20 and now on the K5 IIs, I am still amazed by this piece of glass. The images it produces are tack sharp, rich in detail at all focal lengths and at all apertures. It balances well with all my Pentax cameras. For the price I paid, I am a happy shooter. I just picked up this lens, it's a EX DG pre-Macro version, so the built quality and the finish are just superb. After 10 months of using this lens on a K10 and k20 cameras I am still amazed by this piece of glass. The images it produces are tack sharp, rich in detail at all focal lengths and at all apertures. I tried this with the Pentax 1.7 TC with very goood result. It balances well with my K10 and k20 cameras. For the price I paid, I am a happy shooter.

In my opinion it is THE BEST short telephoto (macro) lens ever made. It has wonderful rendering and truly an apochromatic design for better CA correction. IQ and bokeh are amazing, as well as the ability to get to 1:1 for macro work.

A great lens for everybody who is looking for a tele-zoom (travel) lens in this focal range. It performs really good up to about 350mm, nice and crisp. At 400mm however it becomes soft, but at F8 it's all fine again. Even with a 1.7x converter I got reasonably good results.

This is one of my favorite lenses. Extremely sharp lens with beautiful colors, contrast and bokeh, almost no CA. The close-focus ability is very useful, light, full metal construction. Highly recommend !!!

Identical to the Cosina 55/1.2, right down to the engraving (except for the word "Revuenon"). The rubber grip on the focus ring is different. It's very good built and it weights just about as much too. The IQ is simply great and lens is perfectly usable even at f1.2. The problem here is that the DOF is minimal at this setting so it does need to be properly focused. Colours and contrast are great and bokeh rendering is superb.

This lens can produce a remarkably close reproduction ratio of 1:2 from a distance of 20 inches! For macrophotography of critters and bugs, this lens is more useful than many 100mm range macro lenses. Very sharp and great colour quality. Smooth bokeh in blurred backgrounds. All metal build quality makes it a bit heavy but solid with no looseness. Amazing lens, build quality is like a tank. Smooth zooming and focusing. It produces sharp images throughout focal lengths, sharp even at widest aperture 2.8 and tack sharp from f/4.0 Colour rendition all excellent, bokeh is very smooth and creamy. The tripod collar mount is very good build and comfortable to use. Highly recommended.
