If there is one lens you want to use all the time then this is it! Tamron’s flexible continuous focus (CF) system is very convenient. Makes you forget about focal length, and lets you focus on the subject.
One of the best lenses for Macro work. From F/4 this lens is sharp. Unlike many other lenses that have macro function on a fixed focal length, this lens has macro 1:1.25 on ALL focal lengths. From 35mm to 80mm. Very flexible.
Wide open, there is a bit haze and it is soft. CA is a problem on this lens.

In AF performance and noise, it is MUCH better than Pentax F 70-200mm f/4-5.6.
Sharpness is quite good for portraits. Good contrast and warm colours. CA is not a big issue with several external flashes in indoor environment.
This lens is also available for Nikon users BUT it doesn't work with AF on most newer Nikon cameras (with screw-driven AF) because of compatability firmware issues Nikon incorporated to ensure that only Nikkor old lenses are usable. However, for Pentaxians, this is not an issue and this lens works flawlessly on all Pentax DSLRs.

This is a hidden gem. Very sharp lens and a nice bokeh. Better than MOST OEM lenses. This lens is wayyyyy sharper than Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/3.5. CA is an issue (removable in post processing). For a detailed comparison, see here

For the price, this lens is fantastic! Better than many OEM lenses. Good sharpness. Colour and contrast is low. This lens is sharper than Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/3.5. Bokeh is not the best and CA is an issue (removable in post processing). For a detailed comparison, see here

This lens feels like a premium lens. Better than many OEM lenses. Very well made. Everything is well thought of. From the subtle click sounds of aperture to the built-in hood that includes velvet cloth on the inner side like Pentax Limited lenses. For the price, this lens is fantastic! Good sharpness, colours and contrast. This lens is better than Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/3.5 on sharpness, colour, and contrast. Bokeh is terrible and CA is really an issue and it does not disappear no matter how much you stop it down (removable in post processing). For a detailed comparison, see here

This is an interesting lens. Quite light-weight and compact for a 200mm f/3.5 lens. CA is a bit of an issue but can be easily corrected. Colours are acceptable. This lens is not suitable for indoor environment because of its inability to focus on close subjects. For outdoor portraits, its a good lens. On most old m42 lenses, there is a switch for changing between A and M. This lens lacks that, which implies that changing aperture on lens requires the rear pin to be pressed manually in addition to changing aperture on the ring. However, for using this lens at f/3.5, there is no need to do anything extra--works just like any other adapted lens. But if you intend to use a different aperture setting than f/3.5, than you must first select the desired aperture on the lens aperture ring, and then press the rear pin once. If you don't do it, than the lens will only shoot wide open at f/3.5.
For comparison with Vivitar 75-205mm and Sigma 50-500mm, see here.

I have it in single-ring version (one ring for aperture, and one focusing ring). This is an exceptional lens. If you find it in Pentax K mount than its worth every dime. Its sharpt wide open at f/3.8. CA is a big issue but can be corrected in PP. Contrast is very good. Another great thing about this lens is its close focusing ability. Very handy in indoor environment, and also for macro work.

I had the Soligor version. At 200mm and 220mm this lens is sharper than Sigma 50-500mm APO EX DG and SMC Pentax 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED (see here). Good Macro performance also (see here). The biggest problem with this lens is its weight--its too heavy! I would had kept this lens for Macro work otherwise.

Sharpness is acceptable wide open in the center, but poor in the corners. Tihs lens can't focus on close subjects. For a comparison with two other 135mm manual lenses at f/2.8, see here:

Poor image quality. At 100mm, even the cheap DA 50-200mm lens performs better (see here). At 200mm and 220mm, even the old Soligor 70-220mm f/3.5 Macro performs better (see here). And at 400mm, even Soligor 400mm f/6.3 performs much better (see here and here). Except the autofocus, there is hardly anything to like about this lens.

Far sharper than Pentax 70-70mm f/4, and at times, even sharper than Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8
