| | I read other reviews of this lens before I saw the one I bought on eBay. Very pleasantly surprised, I got a great copy of this Rikenon zoom.
The focusing action is silky smooth and nicely damped. Zooming is firm on my lightly used sample, though it will creep if pointed straight up or down. The aperture ring has a precision feel unlike many lenses of the era from Sigma and Tokina.
The dreaded Ricoh pin is there, however it causes no issues on my K-30.
The color renditions are nearly Pentax like except for red which is somewhat cooler. Sharpness is good wide open, very good at F5.6 and nearly excellent at F8 and 11. Most of my test photos were taken at 210mm. Details held up very well to heavy enlargement. The macro mode delivered excellent flower close-ups at 70mm with saturated colors, sharp contrast and decent bokeh.
About the only area where this zoom can be a let down is its somewhat busy rendition of out of focus foreground objects. They look like semi-transparent worms and are why I only rated the bokeh a 7.
If you can find a clean copy of this lens, buy it. | | | | Junior Member Registered: October, 2017 Posts: 27 | Review Date: April 23, 2018 | Recommended | Price: $10.00

| | I got this new, open box for $10 and it seems pretty sharp in the macro mode. However mine seems to do poorly with CA but that could just be me not knowing how to use photo editing software really well. Still I'd recommend it if you can get it this cheap. | | | | Inactive Account Registered: January, 2011 Location: Northamptonshire Posts: 37 | Review Date: February 6, 2011 | Recommended | Price: $25.00

Pros: | build, macro, weight | Cons: | creep | | I listed the weight as a plus as i like heavier glass. it helps with handheld shots for me, light lenses seem to bounce in your hands when you twist to focus. a good lens at a good price.

Pros: | Color, Rendering, Sharpness, Construction | Cons: | Some CA, Creeps like a greased pig | | I was skeptical of the above reviews giving this manual lens a 9, but I have to admit this is a truly fine lens if you get a good one. It's big, well-constructed, and makes excellent pictures. It really is a gorgeous piece of equipment. Many Rikenon lenses are superb. I even like the early uncoated ones. Don't be fooled by the lowering of the average price brought about by my lucky cheap deal. It's worth way more.

Pros: | Sharp, Macro works, Solid Durable. | Cons: | No auto focus | | I mounted this Len to test shot in my K-x, found that it fully work in all mode but in manual focusing only ofcourse, zooming ring smooth, focus ring smooth too, aparture clicks at each stop nicely! This is an constant aparture throughout the whole zooming from 70 to 210 it is F/3.9 ,Ricoh is well known as good optics manufacture and this Lens output proof that it is true! It is also very bright and fast , it produces sharp photo as well, i test shoot this Lens in Bird park last week , this Lens surprise me with it ability to always producing very good photo nomattar near or far , i highly recommanded this Lens.
Lens is 100% mountable to Pentax DSLR , it is PK mount!
It is constant aparture at f/3.9 all the way to 210mm , means bright and fast , indoor shoot while zoom to 210mm handheld possible, no need tripot, latest AF zoom Lens 100% can not do this! The focus point set at 210mm will not be disturb while you zoom in to 70mm, means if the subject are too far to be in focus, you can zoom in to focus it than zoom out to shoot !

Pros: | Sharp. Macro, | Cons: | Heavy | | I really like this lens for medium range, and great macro for this type of lens. It also has great color reproduction on my K20d. I was real surprised how much I liked this lens. It has the sliding sun shade and a smooth push/pull zoom.
It's probably not much different than the Series 1 70-210mm f 3.5 version
