Pros: | luminosity, even f3.5 the light transmission is greater than in other lenses | Cons: | not too sharp for k3II, better on k01 | Sharpness: 7
Aberrations: 7
Bokeh: 9
Handling: 8
Value: 8
Camera Used: K3II
| | I had no problems with the light measurement as discussed in another review.
The zoom range is ok for portrait or a mountain tour.
Even is a f3.5 lens the light transmission is greater than in other lenses.
Its not too sharp at 3.5 but at 8 its ok on the k3II, and great on the k01.
AF is fast and acureate on k3II and on the k01.
Also have diaphragm ring for use it with old teleconverters, and 8 blades that makes a great bokeh.
Its light and great for handling except the focus ring that is too narrow but I almost never use the manual focus.
Conclusion, great lens for the price for a 16mpx camera or less, not for 24mpx.

The number one issue with this lens is over exposure as you Zoom up ..
This first image was taken @ 28mm and the amount of light or exposure is about correct ..
This next one is @ 50mm and you will notice the increase in brightness ...
Now we are @ 80mm and you can see how severe the over exposure is ...
If you adjust AV in the camera to -2 , this is what you get @ 80mm
To bring exposure back @ 50mm you want about -1 on the AV ..
This really is unacceptable behavior from a lens ( Green mode )
Now as for the lens being Macro ? No not really , its more of a close focus lens ( 50cm )
What did impress some what is how well the lens can focus ( When AV is correct ) When the AV is over exposing , the lens does focus poorly ...
It is a plastic lens , the lens barrel is a little generous ( lose ) in the body , but does not seem to affect images , unless its the cause of AV issue when zooming ? ( I dont think so )
Its not a bad lens except for the AV issue , so I cant call this one a good lens either ( sample I have )
With so many old Pentax lenses floating around out there ( Auto focus 28-80 ) , I mean I was curious , so if your not curious , and you just want a decent cheap lens or back up lens , yeah ! the Cosina might be nearer the bottom of your list ( By this sample )
