Description:
One of the earliest (1980) sigma "APO"'s - upmarket relatively fast telephoto, manual focus (sigma history page here). Typically sold with a custom case.
Note that these early apo designated lenses (300mm f4.5, 400mm f5.6 v1 ) from sigma from this era (1980's) are notorious for suffering from degradation of lens cement, resulting in incurable haze.
This lens was also sold as a ricoh rikenon.

Pros: Slim/light
Cons: Slow.
Sharpness: 8    Aberrations: 9    Bokeh: 8    Handling: 9    Value: 8

Bought it new in '82 in Japan and have only used it...maybe... 8(?)times. I used to shoot K64 in my LX and this lens was too slow@max aperture of 4.5. I used it this past May at the San Francisco Zoo and got a couple of good shots. It's better with an APS-C ISO-wise.

The front element is seperating at the edges and I'll dispose/give it away soon. I can't understand why people buy an old MF lens knowing it can't autofocus and then complain about it. Silly.

Pros: Solid build, fixed hood & tripod mount, reasonably sharp
Cons: fully manual

Decent sharpness for wildlife; I rate it an 8 for sharpness, 9.5 build quality. Sharper than Tamron 300mm LD DI at 300mm and minimal CA. Works with green button on K10D/K20D. Aperature must be set manually. It is slightly longer and heavier than the Pentax F* 300mm.
