Description:
This is a film era zoom lens, part of the UC (ultra compact) series released by Sigma in the early 90. The body has the dreaded Zen coating, which nowadays has turned into some kind of goo, totally nasty at the touch. the good news though is you can easily wipe it off with a cloth soaked in alcohol, at the price of loosing the focal length and aperture lettering, in the process. whats amazing about this lens is its versatility. the 24-50 range is quite sought after, and achieving it in this little body is mind-blowing. Of course, the giveaway is the narrow aperture.
Price: 50 $
Mount Type: Pentax KAF2/KAF (screwdrive AF)

While waiting to get some 24-70/2.8 money, I couldn't skip this lovely little thing I found in a used hardware store. I was positively surprised overall.
Optically the lens performs well, if you take into account its age and the fact that its a film lens.
Sharpness is surprisingly good, but it doesn't really show up that much because of the low micro-contrast.
There is a tiny amount of purple fringe, chromatic aberrations are well controlled overall.
Bokeh is nothing special, but not too fussy.
What really bugs me is the overall haze of this lens. Nowadays its easy to remove it in post but still, it is a bummer to see it in the camera review.
