Description:
This somewhat rare Tamron adaptall TC was designed specifically for highest performance with long lenses like the 300mm f2.8, 400mm f4:
"Tamron also produced the very rare SP 2X Tele-Converter Model 200F (aka SP-200). The 200F converter can be used with Tamron's 135mm F/2.5 model 03B, the manual focus SP 300mm F/2.8 lenses 107B, 60B; SP 300mm F/5.6, SP 400mm F/4, Adaptall and Adaptall-2 70-350mm lenses, SP 200-500mm F/5.6, Adaptall 200-500 F/6.9, plus the SP 350mm F/5.6 and SP 500mm F/8 mirror lenses. The 200F converter can not be used most other Tamron lenses since the converter's front element will come in contact with the lens's rearmost element when you try to attach the converter**. Tamron specifically designed this converter for professional photographers who use any of the aforementioned lenses which this converter is compatible with. The optical design is basically a "stretched out" version of the 01F design and uses high diffraction glass. " - adaptall-2.com

Unfortunately normally sells for up to 10 times the price of the much more common 01F 2x tc.

Caps: AFAIK only the proprietry tamron lens cap will fit the TC on the lens side. But canon eos/EF body caps work great on the mount side see here.

Pros: Great TC Provides extension
Cons: Less sharp than the 1.4 - ONLY works with Adaptall

It is indeed a great lens for Adaptall lenses. It takes 2 f-stops of light. It works great with my 300mm f2.8 and my 80-200mm f2.8.

Pros: Dedicated optics quality
Cons:

Of all the TC's, this one seems to provide the most benefit and is most consistent across the full range of apertures with the Adaptall SP lenses (that it fits).

Contrary to the description on the www.adaptall-2.com web site, this TC does fit and work well on my Adaptall SP 180/2.5 lens.

Well worth the effort of getting this if you make more than casual use of a TC with the SP 300/2.8.

H2

Note: this TC was optically designed for, and excels at, close-up, flat field copy work.
