Pros: very useful for events, at distances of 3-15m, solid construction, sharp
Cons: inner reflections on the long end that reduce contrast
Sharpness: 9    Aberrations: 9    Bokeh: 9    Handling: 7    Value: 8

This goes for the non "SV" version of this lens.

There are lens fittings inside that provoke reflections that greatly reduce contrast at the long end (>50mm), especially when directing against bright light sources.

Found a solution: After removing the innermost lens group, I attached a cardboard ring inside, behind the middle lens group, with an opening a little smaller then the inner lens of the middle group. This removes quite effectively the reflections and contrast is much better at the long end.

best regards
Klaus

Pros: Fast AF, Really Sharp, Build Quality, Nice Focus Lock
Cons: Heavy, Soft focused in 70mm bellow 4F,
Sharpness: 9    Aberrations: 8    Bokeh: 8    Handling: 10    Value: 8

A very good lens to work with! After i did a lot of field test! I totally recommended to anyone either for professional use or hobby its a really good lens with nice glasses that can perform really nice in high Iso situations, its also a fast focus although a bit noisy! For hobbyists the weight will may be a major con but especially in daylight situations using from 4-18f this lens provides outstanding sharpness and the range its really good, I also shot some night time photos to test the quality of the glasses and with my K-5 at 80 Iso at 5F and 15sec of exposure it came almost with no noise and really clean and nice image, On the other hand, when you reach 70mm the lens gives images as soft focused as it can get, which is fixed after 4F, This is the only con that i will give to this lens... besides that it also performs nice in colors and it gives really low aberrations! In total I recommend this lens!

PS: This lens can show you its worth at 5, 11 and 18F these are the most sharp by me...

Thanks!
