This lens is very similar to the (semi) Auto Takumar and the Tomioka Tominon.

It was, according to this website, manufactured by Tomioka.

There is a less common version with a different design for the focus ring.

As in the description this lens is very similar to the semi-auto Tak and Tomioka Tominon. The article linked below makes a pretty compelling argument that all 3 were manufactured by Tomioka (in Japanese so Google Translate might be in order):

I do not have to Tominon to compare against, but it does compare very favorably to the Auto-Talk. Equally sharp wide open with good contrast and colors. As expected for a lens of this age there are limitations, and some side/backlighting can cause loss of contrast. For flare a lens hood is your friend.

It can produce a very nice "swirly" bokeh.

Overall it is a great little lens and a lot of fun on a DSLR.

Side by side with a couple of Auto-Taks
