Lens Review Date: January 30, 2017 I can recommend this lens: Yes | Price: $1,100.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Outstanding Bokeh, No Purple Fringing
Cons: Extremely heavy
Sharpness: 10    Aberrations: 10    Bokeh: 10    Handling: 9    Value: 9    Camera Used: K1

I've owned and extensively shot all of the Zeiss "Classic" lens line up (ZF, ZK, ZE) except the: 15mm, 18mm, and 25mm/2.

Of all of the Zeiss lenses I've used, this one has what I consider to be the best/smoothest/creamiest transitions from in focus to out of focus (i.e. bokeh)!

Good 3D pop when the lighting is right and the distance to the subject is optimum.

This is the only Zeiss lens that I've shot that has aspherical elements. They virtually eliminate the purple fringing that plagues many of the other Zeiss lenses (except for the 25/2 and the 135mm).

This is a heavy lens. I always try to take it off the camera and not dangle it from a camera on a neck strap. If you are not careful, I could see the weight of this lens damaging the camera mount.

As with all of the Zeiss lenses it has: terrific colors, world class micro-contrast and quality build.
